Getting ready to go to the hospital!
Waiting for lil Ro.....watching the biggest loser haha!
Chubby Bunny! (After he started breathing of course)
He has arrived!!! Hallelujah! Now that my little man is 7 weeks old, I have a smidgen of time to blog his birth story. He was born at 4:47 pm, weighed a whopping 8 lbs 5 oz, and was 20 inches long. After arriving at L&D at 7:15 am, they started me on the pitocin. I was still only dilated to a 3 and the pitocin was moving me along at about 1/4 cm per hour haha! My Doc came in and tried *yes TRIED* to break my water at about 9 am...tried, and failed. OUch. So they kicked up the pitocin and decided to keep waiting. Well they kept kicking it up and up because I wasn't dilating hardly at all...until I started to feel like I could literally not breathe! So then we had to put the breaks on it...and try breaking my water again. My doc came back at about 1:30 and was able to break my water, and Wow, I forgot how weird that feels haha!!! Things started to speed up and by 3:45 I was at a 10! Then I had to wait for my Dr to come back...she took forever! I decided this time around I wanted to watch in the mirror, and I'm glad I did cause it was awesome! I thought it would totally freak me out, but it was so cool to see him be born. After a few pushes my dr started looking worried...he was a little stuck. He was a big baby, so clearly the birth canal was a tad small for him. He started to stress...as did I when I watched my dr tugging on his neck to help him come out! She literally pulled him out. She set him on my stomach and I was so in love. He was so beautiful. This time around Will actually got to cut the cord, which was way cool for him :). He was smiling like a fool the whole time, he was so fun to watch because you could just see how proud he was! After he cut the cord they took him over to the table, and the nurses started getting really quiet and talking on their little walkie talkies and I kinda started to freak out. They told me he wasn't breathing and thats why he wasn't crying yet. The nurse had to bag him and breathe for him-it was the scariest thing I've ever experienced. I just wanted to hear him cry so bad. My sister Chauntelle was video taping him, and the nurse turned to her and told her she needed her to shut it off....which I'm really glad I didn't hear because I think I would have freaked out even more!!!! I watched the nurse flicking his feet really hard trying to get him to breathe, and he still wouldn't. She had to give him some shots, and she said "this will get to him cry and breathe"....well it still didn't. So she kept bagging him. All the while I am craning my neck to try and see what is going on, and they are just telling me, he's ok, he's ok. And all I can think is, if he's ok he would be crying! After what seemed like an eternity, they got him to breathe on his own and I got to hold him. They let me feed him and snuggle him for about 45 minutes, and then they took him to the NICU to run some tests and watch his breathing for about 30 minutes while they took me the mother and baby unit. I was so so worried about him, because after all of this he still had not cried. He came back from the NICU and they said everything was great...he was jaundiced, but breathing well on his own. They let me eat, and I have to tell you...I don't think anything has ever tasted better! I had chicken and rosemary potatoes, green beans, and blueberry cheesecake..........I was a happy camper! Maybe because they had starved me for a full 12 hrs...nevertheless...I loved it. Can I just say how much I love being at the hospital haha! They bring you yummy food, pain killers, take your baby so you can sleep...its so nice! I did not want to leave! I loved watching Will give Rome his first bath, it took me back to when Ry was born...which seems like yesterday. He is such a good Daddy, and was sooo proud! The whole experience was amazing. The poor little guy didn't have enough lung strength to cry for the first two days...but boy when they brought him back from his circumcision, I think my heart broke in a million pieces to hear him cry. We got to take him home that same day...which was bittersweet because I didn't want the hospital experience to end, but I was DYING to see my little Ryann. Because its flu season, they weren't letting anyone under the age of 14 visit the hospital, not even siblings! She couldn't even come up the elevator to look at us through the glass, they told us we could bring her to the gift shop to do a skype call....and I thought to myself...hmmm...my little 18 month old is going to feel real great seeing Mommy on a computer screen holding a new baby-NOT! So the poor girl had to stay at home for 2 days, and then have Mommy reappear with a new baby. She would not even look at me for the first 5 or 6 hours I was home, and her little brother was not even a blip on her radar. She was not having it. It broke my heart to have my little best friend upset with me, but by the end of the day she warmed up to me :). On the other hand, she did not even look at her brother the first two days he was home haha! It took her a bit to warm up, but now she is the BEST big sissy ever! She is so sweet to him, she gives him sooo many kisses everyday, pets his head, rubs her face on his, tries to put his binky in his mouth for him, rocks him in his bouncy chair, and gets mommy every time he cries! She is so good to him! I am so blessed to have such beautiful healthy kids, I love them both more than words can describe. I can't imagine not having them in my life-being their mother is the most fulfilling and joyful and hard thing I have ever done, and I wouldn't trade it for the world!
